Flourishing Schools Programme

The Flourishing Schools Programme is an empowering whole-school, wellbeing programme which addresses problem behaviour, builds relationship, social and emotional skills and teaches children and adults to be more tolerant, friendly and kind.

Flourishing Schools is ideal for Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, the new statutory guidance for Relationships Education, OFSTED’s new Personal Development framework and for developing global citizenship.

Flourishing Schools is a ‘Whole School Approach’ programme that comprises of:

  • Flourishing Schools Inset Level I and Flourishing Schools level II
  • Coaching Circles for communication
  • Positive Playtimes to maintain positive behaviour and harmonious relationships at lunchtimes.
  • The Keys to Wellbeing – A staff wellbeing programme. It is essential we look after our teachers so that they look after the children. As Paul Farmer, Chief Executive of Mind, the mental health charity, said: “Teaching staff do an incredibly important and demanding job, so employers need to support their staff so that they can come into work at their best.” This is not an indulgence, it is a necessity.
  • Flourishing Families – supporting parents to parent positively and effectively, so that their children can flourish.

I’m Therese Hoyle and have been running Social, Emotional and Mental Health Whole School Programmes for over 25 years and have spent the last 20 years developing and refining my Flourishing Schools Programme, so that schools get the very best training available. I’m also author of two books 101 Playground Games and 101 Wet Playtime Games and Activities and contributing author of How to be Peaceful School.

I believe that Flourishing Schools needs to be a whole school way, so training is offered to all staff – children, teachers, leadership team, lunchtime supervisors, midday meal supervisors (MDSA’s), admin team, caretaker, governors and anyone else interested.
