What To Do
The children sit in a circle. One person is nominated to be the leader and stands in the middle of the circle.
The leader then calls out, ‘When the north wind blows…’ and then gives directions as to what she would like the players to do and they move to her instructions, usually changing places and moving to a different part of the circle.
For example, ‘When the north wind blows everyone must skip to another seat,’, ‘When the north wind blows you all become tiny mice and move to a different seat.’
This game can continue in a non-competitive way.
You can remove a seat and when the leader calls, ‘When the north wind blows…’ players move in the assigned way and find a seat as quickly as possible.
Players cannot sit in the seat next to them or in the same seat. The leader also has to find a seat. Whoever is left without a seat becomes the new leader and the game starts again.
Alternatively, if you are in the middle more than three times then you are out of the game.
