Are you struggling to fund Positive Playtime training in your school?
Good news! Your PE and Sports Premium can help.
If you’ve ever wanted to bring our Positive Playtime Programme to your school—but weren’t sure how to cover the cost—this blog is here to help you unlock the potential of funding already available to you.
Why Positive Playtimes Matter
At Therese Hoyle Consultancies, we know that play is essential to children’s learning, development, and wellbeing.
Through our Positive Playtime Programmes, we help schools create happier, healthier, and more harmonious playtimes. Children learn to work together, resolve conflicts peacefully, and become more active—without even realising they’re learning.
But how does this link to the Sports Premium?
Using Your PE and Sports Premium
The Department for Education encourages schools to use Sports Premium funding to embed physical activity across the whole school day—not just during PE lessons. That includes active breaktimes, and this is where Positive Playtime training shines.
Here’s how we support the DfE’s five key indicators:
1. Increased engagement in physical activity
Our active games and zoned play approach help get all children moving—regardless of age or ability.
2. Raised profile of PE and sport
When your lunchtime team leads games with confidence, children see active play as a valued and enjoyable part of their school day.
3. Improved staff confidence and skills
We provide high-quality CPD for your lunchtime supervisors, TAs and support staff—so they feel confident leading play and encouraging participation.
4. A broader experience of sports and activities
Our training includes a rich variety of inclusive and accessible games from 101 Playground Games and more encouraging every child to get involved.
5. Increased participation in competition
Many of our playground games include elements of teamwork and friendly competition, helping children build resilience and a sense of achievement.
